In the interest of the health of the horse, the safety of participants, protecting the racing public, and ensuring a level playing field, administrative regulations are strictly enforced.
To that end, the KHRGC strives to provide the racing industry with the most extensive scope of testing employing state-of-the-art instrumentation. The KHRGC has contracted with the University of Kentucky - Equine Analytical Chemistry Laboratory (UK-EACL) to provide testing services. The UK-EACL perform testing on all post-race samples to the specifications of the Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association’s North American Graded Stakes’ Committee. TCO2 analysis is performed on pre-race samples collected from horses in all Graded Stakes and randomly selected overnight races. Out-of-competition blood samples are analyzed for blood doping agents and other prohibited substances.
